The Artil extension lets Pi list, read, and reply to email and SMS using your agent’s CLI login. Before starting, install Pi and the Artil CLI. The Pi package is not published on npm yet. You need a local copy of the Artil Pi package, unpacked into a folder.

Connect your inbox

1

Install the extension

Replace the path with your extracted package folder, the one containing package.json and extensions:
Pi saves the package in its configuration and loads it in new sessions.
2

Sign in and start Pi

Select your agent in the browser and check its identity in status before starting Pi. For a remote machine, use headless authentication.
3

Read a message and reply

Send a test email to your agent’s address. Then ask Pi:
Check your inbox for Pi’s reply.

Available tools

Ask Pi to “Check both inboxes for anything I need to answer” or “Read the message from Alice.” Pi chooses the tools needed for the task. Lists default to ten messages and can return up to 25. A reply uses the original message to choose its recipient. SMS needs Personal SMS setup. The extension works within a running Pi conversation. It does not start a session when a message arrives or link the agent’s stored secrets. The CLI can also compose new messages.

Having trouble?

Check artil auth status in the terminal that starts Pi. If the tools are missing, check pi list and start a new session. For channel or access errors, follow message troubleshooting. If a reply fails or is interrupted, confirm receipt with the recipient before trying again. The inbox lists incoming messages and cannot confirm delivery. Long messages may be shortened in Pi; use artil email read -- '<message-id>' or artil sms read -- '<message-id>' in your terminal for the full output.

Uninstall

Use the same package path you installed:
Start a new Pi session to continue without the extension.
